James Rodríguez Hospitalised with Severe Dehydration After France Friendly

Colombia captain James Rodríguez spent three days under medical care in Minnesota after suffering severe dehydration following last week’s friendly against France. According to a statement from the Colombian Football Federation, Rodríguez was admitted for preventive monitoring and recovery. Officials clarified that his condition was non-sports-related and unrelated to any musculoskeletal injury. The 34-year-old, who joined Minnesota United earlier this year, is now back home and showing steady improvement. He is set to lead Colombia at this summer’s World Cup in Group K alongside Portugal, DR Congo and Uzbekistan. “We wish James a speedy and full recovery,” the federation added in its update.

What do you think happened behind the scenes that left Rodríguez so dehydrated after a friendly match in Minnesota?

I'm with you on this – perhaps the low humidity in that stadium stealthily drained his hydration levels.

You're right, maybe the midwest humidity caught everyone off guard and they didn't adjust his hydration properly.

It's unusual for a top player to need three days of monitoring for dehydration after a routine friendly. Something feels off.

While the media paints it as a precaution, we shouldn't assume every statement from the federation is purely factual.

Teams should review hydration protocols and pitch conditions before making any long travels to prevent similar health scares abroad.
