Police Deploy 15,000 Personnel to Osun Ahead of August 15 Governorship Poll

The Nigeria Police Force says it will deploy at least 15,000 officers and specialised personnel to Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The election security commissioner, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, said the early deployment was ordered in response to rising political tension and recent violence in parts of the state. The operation will include conventional officers, mobile police units, dog handlers, medical teams and other tactical personnel. Etaifo directed officers to remain professional and impartial. He warned politicians, supporters and security personnel that anyone who violates the Electoral Act or disrupts the poll will be arrested. Election-related suspects will be transferred to Abuja for investigation and prosecution, he said.
