1 / 3

Under the leadership of AIG Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos achieved a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crime. On March 3, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested 23-year-old Fawas Opeyemi Alarape, alias Karube, for multiple murders, armed robbery and related offences. Information from Alarape led officers to a criminal hideout known as the “Lion’s Den” on Adeleye Street, Orile Iganmu. There they arrested six more suspects—Soliu Ahmed, Oluwaseun Bolarinwa, Bamidele Mustapha, Abass Abideen, Salisu Ali and Atanda Lukmon—and seized a locally made shotgun, cutlasses, a knife, a hammer, live and spent cartridges, and charms. During interrogation, Alarape confessed to the murder of a tricycle rider under the Shitta bridge in Surulere and implicated others in multiple killings in Orile Iganmu. The suspects are assisting with ongoing investigations and will be charged upon its conclusion. AIG Jimoh commended the team’s professionalism and urged residents to remain vigilant and share timely information to help rid Lagos and Ogun States of criminal elements.
