Niger Police Arrest 71 Suspects, Recover 10 AK-47 Rifles and 330 Rounds of Ammunition
The Niger State Police Command says it arrested 71 suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, homicide, fraud and drug-related offences during intelligence-led operations across the state in July. Police said they recovered 10 AK-47 rifles, 15 magazines and 330 rounds of live ammunition. Other exhibits included stolen vehicles, motorcycles, livestock and illicit drugs. The command said it dismantled a kidnapping syndicate operating in Niger State and the FCT, arrested its alleged leader, and rescued three victims. Officers also intercepted ammunition concealed in a cement bag and uncovered a forgery operation with 105 fake NIN cards and 189 fake PVCs. Nine children and an abducted infant were also rescued. The police urged residents to continue sharing credible information to support security operations.
