Akwa Ibom Launches First 20 CNG Buses to Boost State Transport
Akwa Ibom State has received its first 20 Compressed Natural Gas buses, part of a 50-vehicle order to transform public transport across all 31 local government areas. Governor Umo Eno inspected the new buses and commended the Ministry of Transport, the contractor, the military, and other partners for the successful delivery. He said the next steps include completing bus terminals, installing tracking devices, and introducing a modern ticketing system. Noting that improved roads have laid the foundation for this initiative, the governor described it as the beginning of a new era of visible infrastructure delivery. He urged residents to remain patient, reminding them that meaningful development requires planning and consistent execution. Transport Commissioner Dr. Anthony Luke praised the governor’s vision, calling the arrival of the CNG buses a clear sign of the administration’s commitment to improving daily life for Akwa Ibom people.
