Pastor Kneels Before FCT Minister, Pleads to Keep Jabi Lake Public
Senior Pastor Sarah Omakwu of Family Worship Centre in Abuja knelt before FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in a video appeal, urging him not to allocate the Jabi Lake recreation area for private development. She warned that the space is vital for exercise, commerce, weddings and social gatherings, and recalled how access to Aso Rock was gradually restricted. While praising the minister’s road projects, she begged him in the name of God to preserve the lake as a public asset. The plea comes after the Federal Capital Territory Administration signed deals with private firms earlier this year to transform Jabi Lake into a commercial tourism hub. Omakwu’s appeal highlights growing public concern over loss of communal spaces in Abuja.
