Nigeria Extradites Suspected Murderer and Drug Trafficker to UK
The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, has handed over Matthew Chukwuemeka Adebiyi to United Kingdom authorities. He is wanted for the 2018 murder of Joshua Boadu and alleged supply of crack cocaine between October 2017 and March 2018. Adebiyi was arrested in January 2025. In February 2026, the Federal High Court in Lagos approved his extradition under the Extradition Act. He was formally surrendered at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in April 2026. Inspector-General Olatunji Disu reaffirmed the force’s dedication to international cooperation. He emphasized that Nigeria will not serve as a refuge for fugitives.
