Madugu Defends Nnadozie After Super Falcons’ 3-2 WAFCON Loss to Malawi
Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu has defended goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie following Nigeria’s 3-2 loss to Malawi in their opening match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Nnadozie faced criticism after being blamed for at least two of Malawi’s goals. Madugu, however, said the defeat was a collective failure and described her as a consistently outstanding goalkeeper who had an off day. Nigeria now face Zambia in their second Group C match. Anything less than a win could put the 10-time African champions at risk of an early exit and damage their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
