Why Nigeria Needs an Igbo President for True National Unity

Nigeria’s democracy is strongest when every region feels included in leadership. Since 1999, the Southwest, Northwest, and South-South have each supplied presidents, but the Southeast remains without a democratically elected occupant of the highest office. Granting an Igbo candidate a real chance at the presidency is not just an ethnic concession. It honors fairness, upholds the federal character principle, and strengthens unity. Igbo entrepreneurs and professionals have driven commerce, innovation, and development across Nigeria. Nation-building demands that competence, integrity, and vision guide our choice of leaders, not tribal loyalties or historical biases. Embracing meritocracy over sectionalism will help Nigeria overcome insecurity, unemployment, and underdevelopment. Every Nigerian should be able to aspire to, and attain, the presidency on equal terms.
