Ndume Denies Role in Alleged ₦5bn Ransom Talks for Abducted Borno Residents

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has denied allegations that he acted as an intermediary in ransom negotiations for residents abducted from Ngoshe, Borno State. Speaking on a television programme, Ndume said he neither handled ransom money nor negotiated with Boko Haram or ISWAP. He rejected claims that he was involved in discussions over the victims' release. He said his only action was to alert security agencies after being informed of a video in which the kidnappers allegedly demanded ₦5 billion. “I have never seen ₦1 billion cash in my life, not to talk of ₦5 billion,” he said.
