Peter Obi’s Exit from ADC Sets Igbo Presidency Back 20 Years, Maigari Warns
Hon. Kasimu Maigari of the ADC National Legislators Forum said Peter Obi’s political moves have hindered the South East’s bid for Nigeria’s presidency. Speaking on Arise News on May 4, 2026, he argued Obi’s departure from the ADC has pushed Igbo presidential aspirations back two decades. Maigari accused those around Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of prioritizing personal ambition over ideology. He predicted Obi cannot win in 2027 and claimed most of his supporters aim to ride on their popularity for elective positions. Despite these criticisms, Maigari insisted the ADC remains united and strategically positioned for the 2027 elections. He suggested Obi’s influence could still benefit the party in key regions.
