DSS Reportedly Arrests BOSYA President After Boko Haram Ransom Claims

DSS Reportedly Arrests BOSYA President After Boko Haram Ransom Claims

The Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly arrested Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, president of the Borno State Youths Association, in Abuja after a television interview in which he alleged that the Federal Government was paying ransom to Boko Haram and bandits. Human-rights activist Omoyele Sowore said a lawyer sent to see Kaigama was denied access to him and the DSS facility. He described the arrest as an attempt to silence Kaigama and raised concerns about due process. The DSS has not issued an official statement on the arrest, the allegations, or the reported denial of legal access. The claims have not been independently verified.
