NDC Kano Leaders Allege Kwankwaso’s Monopolisation of Party Structures
Top NDC officials in the North-West have issued a strong statement accusing Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his faction in Kano of sidelining other party members and overriding agreed power-sharing arrangements. They explain that both officers were ratified at national and state congresses after being appointed pro-tem by the party’s national leader. They say they welcomed Kwankwaso, worked closely with him under explicit instructions, and even adopted his symbols in the spirit of unity. Tensions flared when Kwankwaso’s camp allegedly refused to release nomination forms for State Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and the Governorship to members outside his group. Repeated appeals by the state and national leadership have reportedly failed to persuade him to honour the 60/40 power-sharing deal. The NDC leaders warn that monopolising party structures undermines inclusion and threaten the party’s unity. They reaffirm their commitment to an open, consultative process and say they remain ready to work with all members under agreed rules.
