Muhammad’s Moon-Splitting Miracle: Why No Independent Records?

My Muslim brothers and sisters, I have a sincere question about the moon-splitting miracle attributed to Prophet Muhammad. The Qur’an (54:1) and several hadith describe people witnessing the moon split in two halves before rejoining. Yet if this event was visible across the sky, why is there no record from other contemporary astronomers in China, India or Persia? Claims that NASA confirmed the miracle are misleading. The lunar rille known as Rima Ariadaeus is a geological feature formed billions of years ago—not evidence of a split. Modern lunar geology shows no signs of a global fracture followed by reassembly. Historians accept the crucifixion of Jesus based on multiple independent sources like Tacitus and Josephus. By contrast, the moon-splitting event lacks non-Islamic confirmation outside Islamic texts. If the moon truly split, why does history remain silent? I welcome a respectful, evidence-based discussion rather than emotional responses.

Has anyone considered how a widespread moon-splitting event would have been recorded by other civilizations at that time?

You're right, a major event like that should show up in other ancient records or inscriptions.

It's curious that such a dramatic miracle isn't mentioned in any independent chronicles from neighboring regions or cultures.

True, outside records seem scarce, but historical documentation then was spotty everywhere. Doesn't always mean it didn't happen, abi?

I get the doubt, but maybe oral traditions didn't survive in other areas rather than purposeful omission.

We could examine early astronomical diaries or archaeological findings to see if any indirect clues support or challenge the moon-splitting narrative.
