Peter Jackson is a New Zealand filmmaker best known for directing and producing The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. His other major works include Heavenly Creatures, King Kong, They Shall Not Grow Old and The Beatles: Get Back. His films have earned more than $6.5 billion worldwide. Jackson began with low-budget horror comedies such as Bad Taste and Braindead before earning international recognition for Heavenly Creatures. He later won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Born on 31 October 1961, Jackson is 64 years old. He has two children with his long-term partner and creative collaborator, Fran Walsh. Beyond filmmaking, he is known for his visual-effects business, aviation collection and support for film and heritage projects. In 2025, Jackson and Walsh were reportedly valued at about $2.6 billion on New Zealand’s NBR Rich List.
