Police Arrest 39 Over Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Vandalism, Uncover Hidden Tunnel

The Federal Government has commended the Lagos State Police Command after a crackdown on vandals targeting the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Police said 39 suspects were arrested in August. Officers also uncovered a deep tunnel allegedly used to conceal materials stolen from the project. Authorities reported that 1,800 manhole covers, one kilometre of security fencing and 75 road signs were stolen between January and August. Guns, cables, vandalised iron and drugs were reportedly recovered during the operation.
