Atiku Pledges Support for ADC Flagbearer in 2027 Race

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, a leading aspirant in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has vowed to back whoever wins the party’s nomination for the 2027 presidential election. He dismissed concerns that INEC might hinder ADC activities after it announced plans to cut off communication with party leaders. Atiku said vested interests are targeting ADC because of its growing national appeal. Speaking to DW Hausa, he praised the party’s commitment to youth and women inclusion. He confirmed he would support a young nominee if the delegates choose one. Atiku also linked rising insecurity in parts of the North to youth unemployment and poor access to education. He criticized the current government for tolerating corruption and urged renewed focus on opportunities for young Nigerians.

It's interesting that Atiku dismisses INEC concerns so quickly, implying the ADC won't face any electoral hurdles in the next cycle.

Supporting the eventual nominee sounds straightforward, but what happens if internal party disputes challenge that unity?
