Wike Visits PDP Secretariat, Calls for Reconciliation and Return of Defectors
Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, visited the Peoples Democratic Party’s national secretariat at Wadata House in Abuja. He congratulated the newly elected National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed and pledged his full support and loyalty. Wike urged the committee to focus on reconciliation by reaching out to members who defected to other parties. He called for programmes that would make the PDP more attractive to Nigerians and commended ongoing renovations at the secretariat. The minister dismissed claims by smaller opposition groups, insisting that contesting and winning elections is the true measure of relevance. He reaffirmed that the PDP remains the main opposition party in the country. In response, NWC chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed promised to reposition the party and work towards electoral victories in 2027. National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu described Wike’s visit as a significant boost to party morale.
