Keystone Bank Backs Lagos Drive to Expand Climate Finance

Keystone Bank Backs Lagos Drive to Expand Climate Finance

Keystone Bank has restated its support for climate action and sustainable development at Lagos State’s two-day Climate Finance Preparedness Clinic in Lagos. The clinic brought together government officials, financial institutions and development partners to improve access to climate funding, develop bankable projects and strengthen financing for low-carbon, climate-resilient development. The bank said it would support innovative financing for green infrastructure, energy efficiency, waste management and businesses transitioning to climate-resilient operations. Lagos officials added that stronger links between policy, project data, institutions and investors are needed to attract climate investment into the state.

It is encouraging to see government, banks and development partners sharing the same space around climate action and sustainable development.

Support statements are welcome, but the real test is whether the clinic leads to clearer financing pathways rather than another round of discussions.
