DSS Arrests Five Arms Couriers Behind Papiri School Abduction, Seizes 15 AK Rifles
The Department of State Services arrested five suspected arms couriers linked to the November attack on St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri Village. Two of the suspects are Nigerien nationals. Security agents recovered 15 AK 103 rifles, 15 magazines and 1,434 rounds of live ammunition from a vehicle on the Zaria–Kaduna highway. Preliminary investigations show the men supplied weapons to gunmen who abducted nearly 300 students and staff. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of another courier in Kebbi State. All five men are accused of aiding the raid that left more than 50 children escaping in the chaos and saw 130 captives later rescued. Authorities confirmed that none of the pupils remain in captivity. The arrests mark a major breakthrough in the investigation, say security sources.
