Edda Movement Urges 2027 Reps Seat Zoning to Edda After 20 Years of Afikpo Control

A socio-political group, Edda Grassroots Movement for FON, has asked Ebonyi Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to zone the Afikpo/Edda House of Representatives seat to Edda LGA for the 2027 elections. They argue Afikpo LGA has held the seat since 2007, with no rotation for nearly two decades. The National Coordinator, Hon. Orji Patrick, said this dominance has left Edda people feeling marginalised. He noted that Afikpo also holds other key offices, including the Deputy Governor’s seat, creating an imbalance in political opportunity. Edda Movement insists zoning the seat would correct a “historical injustice” and boost grassroots participation in the APC. They highlighted that Edda has credible and loyal party members ready to serve. Aligning with Governor Nwifuru’s “People’s First” agenda and the state’s “Charter of Equity,” the group urged APC leaders to back a fair power-sharing arrangement. They warned that managing this demand will shape unity and alignments ahead of the 2027 polls.
