Carrick: I Won’t Push Ratcliffe for My Manchester United Future

Carrick: I Won’t Push Ratcliffe for My Manchester United Future — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Michael Carrick insists he won’t press minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe for a decision on his long-term role at Manchester United. United have won eight of their last 12 matches to move within reach of Champions League qualification. A 1–0 victory at Chelsea put them 10 points clear of the Blues and three ahead of Liverpool. Reports suggest Carrick is the front-runner for the permanent head coach job, but he draws no comparisons with Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s interim spell. “It will become clear when it becomes clear,” he says, adding that he’s happy to wait and enjoys the challenge of leading the team.

Do you think Carrick's patient approach will earn Ratcliffe's trust or should he have pushed for clarity sooner?

I agree, giving space shows respect. Building trust takes time, and Carrick's patience might pay off.

Would you say Carrick's calm style fits Ratcliffe's way of making decisions, or something else matters more?

Eight wins from 12 games is solid, but it doesn't guarantee Ratcliffe will commit to Carrick's long-term vision at United.

Relying on Ratcliffe's timetable feels passive when United's momentum requires bold decisions for Champions League push.

Carrick could focus on delivering consistent results to strengthen his case before approaching Ratcliffe for a long-term deal.
