Court Grants El-Rufai Bail, Kaduna Trial Adjourned to April 21

A Federal High Court has granted bail to former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai in his ongoing corruption trial. The judge reserved judgment after hearing arguments from both the defence and the prosecution. In a related matter, the Kaduna State High Court has adjourned his case until April 21, 2026. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission amended its charges, dropping one co-defendant. El-Rufai faces allegations of abuse of office, financial mismanagement and improper use of public funds. He denies all charges. Further hearings will determine the next steps in this high-profile legal battle.

Bail alone won't change much; trial already adjourned to April 21 anyway.

It's interesting that the judge granted bail before delivering a full judgment on the defence and prosecution arguments.

I'm not sure bail at this stage really protects the trial's integrity, it might just delay real accountability.

Citizens should monitor the court proceedings closely and demand transparency as the trial resumes on April 21.
