APC Retains Shettima as Tinubu’s Running Mate, Upholds Muslim–Muslim Ticket for 2027

The All Progressives Congress has confirmed Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 election. This ends weeks of speculation that Tinubu might pick a northern Christian to balance the ticket. Names like Yakubu Dogara and SGF George Akume were widely mentioned. The announcement came at the party’s Abuja unveiling ceremony just hours before INEC’s July 11, 2026 deadline.
