EFCC Faces Backlash Over Uyo Teaching Hospital Raid, Orders Internal Probe

Videos of tear gas and warning shots sparked nationwide outrage and led health workers to begin an indefinite strike. Four hospital employees, including Prof. Effiong Ekpe, were arrested after a clash unfolded when EFCC officers sought to verify a medical report tied to a court case. Civil society groups, lawyers and former presidential candidate Peter Obi condemned the use of force in a medical facility. The EFCC insists the visit was administrative and vows to sanction any officer found to have breached its procedures.
