My Roommate Cheated on Him. Now He Wants to Date Me—What Should I Do?

I live with my roommate who has a wonderful boyfriend. He supports her with money and gifts and checks on her often. But she speaks harshly to him, ignores him, and I know she’s cheated twice. Recently she traveled to visit her parents and he came to see me. He said he’s done with her and asked if I’d consider dating him. I admit I like him but feel conflicted about dating my roommate’s ex. I also worry he might be acting out of anger. I’ve asked for a week to decide. I need honest advice. Should I give him a chance? Would it be wrong?

Should I feel guilty if I consider dating my roommate's ex-boyfriend after witnessing her cheating twice?

I agree you shouldn't feel guilty for thinking about this. Just be honest with everyone and follow your comfort level.

No need feel guilty. You're not responsible for her mistakes. If he treats you better, go for it.

It seems odd she treated him badly despite his generosity, yet he quickly moved on to you after her trip.

Dating him might feel rewarding now, but it risks repeating messy dynamics rather than finding a fresh start.

Before you decide, ask him what he really wants, agree on clear boundaries, and give yourself time to process the drama.
