Kebbi Govt Dismisses “Sai Malam” Insurgency as Cybercrime Scam
Kebbi’s Commissioner for Information and Culture has strongly denied reports of a new insurgent group called “Sai Malam.” He says security agencies have uncovered a cybercriminal network known locally as Yan-Vocal, not an armed terror cell. Authorities have made several arrests in the online extortion ring. The commissioner also rebuffed claims that 130 children die daily in the state, noting such figures would exhaust the entire under-five population in months. UNICEF has disowned the faulty statistic, which the commissioner blamed on opponents seeking to tarnish the governor ahead of the 2027 elections.
