Youth Cooperatives Drive Food Security and Sustainable Farming in Ogun State
In Ogun State, young farmers and cooperative members gathered for a one-day workshop on sustainable agriculture and community development. Organized by the Ogun State Youth Cooperative in partnership with the Plant To Live Initiative, the training covered tree planting, good agricultural practices, and Ugu cultivation. Participants learned techniques to boost crop yields, protect the environment, and generate income. Sessions addressed climate action through tree planting, soil management, quality seeds, pest control, and proper harvest methods. A hands-on demonstration on Ugu farming highlighted its nutritional value and profitability. Cooperative leaders explained how collective efforts can strengthen local economies and empower youths. They outlined membership procedures, savings schemes, and digital payment options. Stakeholders also called for stronger ties with the National Youth Council to expand youth-focused agricultural programs across the state.
