ADC Warns: Nigeria Rises to 4th Most Terror-Affected Country as Tinubu Government Struggles

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) warns that Nigeria’s new ranking as the world’s fourth most terrorism-affected country exposes deep failures in the Tinubu administration’s security strategy. Data from the recently released Global Terrorism Index show incidents rose from 120 in 2024 to 171 in 2025. Borno State now accounts for 67% of attacks and 72% of deaths, with civilians making up 67% of casualties. At a time when many communities are grieving, President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser and the Defence Minister are abroad. The ADC highlights ongoing threats from ISWAP and Boko Haram and warns that new groups such as Lakurawa are emerging.

Local communities should strengthen neighbourhood watch groups and report suspicious activities promptly, while advocating transparent oversight of federal security budgets.
