The premiere edition of “Berklee in Nigeria” wrapped up in Lagos after a week of intensive training and mentorship for over 100 emerging artists. In partnership with a leading music college, participants honed their skills in Afrobeats, R&B, soul, jazz, and contemporary Nigerian sounds. A star-studded finale featured performances of original compositions backed by live instrumentation. Hosts Darey Art Alade and Kiekie energized the night as celebrities like Rita Dominic, Nancy Isime, Yeni Kuti, Tobi Bakre, and Waje celebrated the rising talent. The highlight was the awarding of 18 scholarships worth a combined $2.3 million, giving winners the chance to study music in the United States.
