Operation Hadin Kai Troops Foil Terrorist Ambush After IED Blast on Damboa-Kumala Road
Security sources report that soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai repelled a terrorist ambush after an improvised explosive device detonated on the Damboa-Kumala road in Borno state on Saturday, July 4. The troops and Civilian Joint Task Force were escorting 63 vehicles when a roadside IED damaged the tyres of two MRAPs. Suspected insurgents launched the ambush about two kilometres from the blast site. No casualties were recorded among soldiers or civilians. After changing the damaged tyres on site, the convoy completed its mission and safely returned 71 vehicles to Damboa. Military officials say the operation underscores their resolve to keep key supply routes open despite persistent threats in the north-east.
