Queiroz Slams VAR for Missing Two Penalty Incidents in Ghana’s Draw with England

Queiroz Slams VAR for Missing Two Penalty Incidents in Ghana’s Draw with England

Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz voiced strong criticism after a 0-0 draw with England, insisting VAR should have intervened in two key challenges on Prince Adu. He argued England keeper Jordan Pickford and defender Ezri Konsa both fouled Adu, and that Pickford deserved a red card for his collision outside the area. Queiroz questioned the VAR process, joking that the officials must have been “on vacation” or “out for coffee” during those incidents. The Black Stars sit second in Group L and will take on Panama in their final group match on Saturday.

It's odd that VAR missed both challenges on Prince Adu even with multiple camera angles available.

Are we sure both incidents were clear penalties? Sometimes on-field speed and angles can make contact seem worse than it was.

Maybe introducing an independent VAR auditor for each match could help ensure critical penalty decisions aren't overlooked.
