Proud Moment: Amad Diallo Hails Ivory Coast’s First World Cup Knockout Berth

Ivory Coast made history at the FIFA World Cup 2026 by advancing from the group stage for the first time. They fell 2-1 to Norway in the Round of 32 but celebrated a landmark achievement for Ivorian football. Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, who scored Ivory Coast’s lone goal against Norway, praised the young Elephants squad. “We had played in three tournaments before and never got past the group stage, so we’ve achieved that,” he said. Diallo called his knockout goal “a dream come true” and said that despite the defeat, the team can consider the campaign a victory for their country’s football history.
