US Allows Iran Team Into the Country One Day Before Each World Cup Match
Iran’s national football team will travel from its Tijuana training base to the United States one day before each of its three group-stage matches, the Department of Homeland Security announced. Players have secured the visas needed to play in Los Angeles and Seattle, though some delegation members faced delays. Iran will face New Zealand on June 15 and Belgium on June 21 in Los Angeles, then Egypt on June 26 in Seattle. The Iranian federation confirmed the charter flight arrangements under FIFA’s programme. Iran’s sports minister also warned that officials will act if any non-team symbols or disruptive chants occur during matches.
