EFCC Cautions Sabinus Over Viral ‘Wanted’ Poster, Calls Him a ‘Clout Chaser’
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has publicly warned comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ijekwu, known as Sabinus, to stop sharing a fake poster that claimed he was declared wanted by the agency. On its official Twitter handle, the EFCC branded the skitmaker a “clout chaser” and demanded he cease the stunt immediately. This follows a series of EFCC actions against celebrities for abusing the Naira. Last year, comedians AY and Iyabo Ojo were invited over money spraying incidents but were cleared after explaining the notes were genuine. Businessman Cubana Chief Priest faced charges for tampering with the currency, while crossdresser Bobrisky served six months for similar offences. Even entertainer E-Money was detained for spraying US dollars in violation of the Foreign Exchange Act. The EFCC’s swift response underscores its commitment to protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s currency and discouraging publicity stunts that misrepresent law enforcement actions.
