1 / 2

The 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course at the NYSC permanent camp in Sagamu began with a morning meditation session on the parade ground. Camp Director Mrs. Daramola Bose thanked God for the safe arrival of the prospective corps members and urged them to uphold discipline, responsibility, and diligence throughout the programme. She assured participants of a rewarding camp experience and emphasized that its success would depend on their conduct and strict adherence to camp rules. Highlights included a session on NYSC core values, renditions of the NYSC and Ogun State anthems, and rehearsals ahead of the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026.

Starting with meditation on the parade ground is an unusual choice for an orientation course, but discipline might need that new approach.

Meditation alone can't guarantee discipline, they'll need clear rules and consistent enforcement from the start to see real results.

Corps members should build on this meditation habit by setting daily personal goals to stay focused and disciplined throughout their service year.
