Lagos Expands Nigeria Learning Passport to Private Schools After 200,000 Users Milestone
The Lagos State Government has launched a drive to bring private schools on board with the Nigeria Learning Passport. During a session at the Education Resource Centre in Ojodu, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education urged proprietors to adopt the platform as part of wider education reforms. Launched in September 2022, the portal offers over 20,000 curriculum-aligned resources, including videos, simulations, games and courses on emerging technologies. Lagos now leads the country with more than 200,000 enrolled users and over 5,000 trained education stakeholders. Schools are encouraged to appoint “NLP champions” to train teachers, monitor learner engagement and use data tools for targeted support. The government will assist with connectivity, devices and training to ensure every child has uninterrupted access. The initiative aims to standardise learning quality, expand access and prepare students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution through technology-driven education.
