Rema and Tyla Among Headliners for 2026 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles
FIFA has confirmed that Nigerian superstar Rema will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12. He joins a lineup of global acts including Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA and South African singer Tyla. The ceremony kicks off 90 minutes before Nigeria faces Paraguay at the same venue later that evening. It will be held at the Los Angeles Stadium as one of three opening events staged across the tournament’s host nations for the first time in World Cup history. Rema and Tyla stand out as the only African artists currently on the bill, underscoring the global rise of Afrobeats. “The lineup reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the power of music to bring people together,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement. This edition features a record 48 teams across three countries, 104 matches and a month-long celebration of football, beginning on June 11 and concluding with the final in the New York/New Jersey stadium on July 19.
