Kwankwaso Open to Vice-President Role Amid ADC Leadership Rift

Kwankwaso Open to Vice-President Role Amid ADC Leadership Rift

The African Democratic Congress is locked in a fierce leadership dispute between the Nafiu Bala and David Mark factions. Both sides claim control ahead of the 2027 elections. The Mark group held a convention in Abuja and announced expulsions, but Bala dismissed the move as illegal and vowed to fight it in court. Ahead of the polls, key figures Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are the focus of emerging coalition talks. A spokesperson for Kwankwaso said he is ready to accept any role—including a vice-presidential slot—if it strengthens the opposition’s bid to remove the current government. A political analyst warns the ADC must resolve its internal crisis before it can mount a credible challenge. He argues that a united ticket of Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso could deliver more votes than the ruling party, but only if personal ambitions are managed and regional balance is respected.

What do you think Kwankwaso hopes to gain by accepting a vice-president role amid this ADC leadership rift?

How sure are we that he can actually gain real influence from that vice-president role?

Is he aiming to bridge the ADC divide or simply raise his political stock nationally?

It's interesting how both Mark and Bala factions claim control yet haven't reached any consensus before the 2027 election timeline.

I'm not sure inviting Kwankwaso to a secondary position will actually resolve the party's deeper leadership disagreements.

The ADC should prioritize a transparent internal mediation process before involving external figures like Kwankwaso to avoid further division.
