1 / 2

A video that went viral on social media shows a Lagos police officer demanding a N30,000 bribe from a motorist in the Idimu area and settling for N10,000. The driver says he was stopped over an alleged discrepancy in his vehicle’s colour – “grey” versus “ash” – and told to follow the officer to the station before negotiating the bribe. The Police Complaints Unit later confirmed the officer has been identified, arrested and is facing internal disciplinary action.

It's odd how the officer settled for a lower bribe after a colour discrepancy. Feels like common practice rather than isolated case.
