Overwhelmed by Fear Driving My New Keke Napep – Need Advice

I bought a second-hand Keke Napep to hustle amid Nigeria’s tough economy. My mother-in-law helped me complete the purchase, and I spent a lot to get it in good condition. I’m new to driving, so I started slowly and make small money. Since I began, I haven’t felt like myself. I live in constant fear. I’ve lost my appetite, can’t finish a meal, and lie awake worrying about the next day’s shift. Even though I make decent money, I dread every ride. My wife, siblings and in-laws see the income and think I’m doing great. I haven’t told them how anxious I am because I don’t want them to think I’m not serious. On a good day I bring home ₦32,000, but inside I’m miserable. I’m thinking of selling the Keke and reinvesting the money in another business, but I’m scared my family will judge me. Has anyone experienced this kind of fear or anxiety? I’d appreciate your insight and advice.

I felt that same mix of excitement and nerves on day one; navigating busy intersections felt most intimidating.

Notice say every time you step into that keke, your shoulders tense up like you dey expect collision even before you start.

It's understandable to be nervous, but maybe dwelling on every possible mishap is making things harder than they need to be.

Try setting small goals like mastering one turn or street each day and gradually build confidence before pushing yourself farther on busy roads.
