Bride Killed in Maiduguri Crossfire as Soldiers Repel Boko Haram Attack
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked two military locations in Maiduguri, Borno State. They stormed the Kofa base at 2:14 am and the Muna post at 2:30 am, riding in on motorcycles and firing sporadically. The military repelled both assaults, but stray bullets killed three residents during the crossfire. “Our neighbor, a three-week-old bride, was hit by a stray bullet and died instantly,” said a Kofa resident. In Muna, two people died and a woman was injured by a flying bullet in her home. A funeral prayer was observed and the bodies are set for burial by noon.
