APGA Aspirants Hail Soludo’s Adoption of Option A4 for Fair 2027 Primaries

APGA Aspirants Hail Soludo’s Adoption of Option A4 for Fair 2027 Primaries

During a South East zonal stakeholders meeting at the International Convention Centre in Awka, Governor Chukwuma Soludo announced that APGA will use Option A4 for its 2027 primary elections. He said the new system will curb rigging, boost transparency, and cut down on wasteful vote buying. House of Representatives hopeful for Awka North/South, Ozo (Dr.) Azubuike Augustine Ekweozor, praised the initiative as a way to level the playing field and strengthen grassroots engagement. He thanked the party leadership for ensuring every aspirant gets a fair shot. Other aspirants, including Chief Chukwudi Oli, Chief Chukwuemeka Pat Orjiakor, and Hon. Prince Okeke Chinemelu Godwin, echoed similar views. They said Option A4 will end anointed candidacies, push politicians to reconnect with their communities, and test each candidate’s popularity and credibility within the party structure.

Do you think Option A4 will truly eliminate rigging in APGA's 2027 primaries, or are there gaps we should watch?

Good point. A4 feels solid on paper, but we'll need clear enforcement and transparency measures to seal any gaps.

While Option A4 promises more transparency and less waste, past reforms have often fallen short when local interests resist change.

I'm not convinced this new system won't just shift the politics behind closed doors instead of stopping rigging.
