NNPP: Barr. Ladipo Johnson Joined Kwankwasiya Movement, Didn’t Resign
The NNPP clarifies that Barrister Ladipo Johnson never formally resigned from the party. He simply moved to support his leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. Johnson’s resignation letter, dated May 4, 2026, was addressed to the NNPP ward chairman in Surulere, Lagos. He cited a “broader national realignment of the opposition” as his reason for leaving. The NNPP National Secretary, Comrade Ogini Olaposi, states Johnson had already been expelled for anti-party activities. Court rulings in Owerri and Abuja upheld the expulsion, meaning he was no longer a party member. INEC has been urged to update its records and recognise the authentic NNPP leadership. Despite court orders, the commission has not complied 30 days after the latest Appeal Court directive.
