From Rod to Serpent: Trusting God Beyond What You Control — 1 of 2
1 / 2

A shepherd’s rod is simple and secure—an extension of skill and authority. Yet when God breathes on it, the rod slithers into a serpent. What was once safe now demands faith. God often transforms our familiar gifts into challenges to remind us that true power rests with Him. When Moses fled his own staff turned snake, he learned that following divine direction means stepping into the unknown. Picking up the serpent by the tail was Moses’s test of trust. When the staff clicked back, it proved the source was God and the vessel remained Moses. We keep our place in the story, even when control slips from our hands.
