Soldier Dies as 8 Division Troops Repel Terrorist Ambush in Sokoto

Troops of the Combat Team, 8 Division, came under fire during a routine patrol around Zurmuku Village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State on July 14. Terrorists launched a surprise ambush at about 5:30 p.m., but the soldiers fought back decisively and forced the attackers to withdraw. One soldier sustained gunshot wounds and was evacuated to a medical facility, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Earlier on June 30, two more soldiers were killed and three wounded when troops successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in Isa Local Government Area of the state.
