Which Turning Point Derailed Nigeria’s Promise?
At independence, Nigerians and the world were optimistic about our future. Blessed with natural resources and a growing population, we looked destined for greatness. Today, we face insecurity, unemployment, decaying infrastructure, and a crisis of confidence in our institutions. Many of us wonder when we first veered off course. Was it the cycle of military coups, the Civil War, or the rise of corruption? Did ethnic and religious divisions deepen the crisis, or is there a deeper root? I’d love to hear your perspective. If you could pinpoint one moment that changed Nigeria’s trajectory, what would it be? I recently created a short piece called The Sleeping Giant to explore these ideas through storytelling and symbolism.
