Sunday Dare Dismisses Claims APC Plans to Exclude Other Parties from 2027 Ballot
Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, dismissed allegations that the APC intends to monopolize the 2027 ballot. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, he emphasized that all 21 registered parties retain the right to field candidates. Dare responded to ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi’s claim that the ruling party was instigating internal crises in opposition ranks to weaken competition. He argued Nigeria’s democratic space remains open, citing the ability of opposition groups to engage the Independent National Electoral Commission and stage protests. He stressed that both the APC and the president are focused on governance rather than being threatened by opposition activity. He also criticized the ADC for its internal challenges and advised the party to pursue grievances through legal channels rather than blaming the ruling party.
