Assessing the Impact of President Tinubu’s Achievements
I question whether President Tinubu truly manages public funds better than the average person. There’s also no proof that Mr Omoyele Sowore handles money more effectively. In truth, you rarely spend others’ money better than you spend your own. Chief Bisi Akande stands out as a past governor who stretched Osun’s limited federal allocations. He laid off civil servants but paid them lump sums. Many used that payout to start businesses and prosper despite losing their original jobs. Even though Akande served just four years, his record matches or surpasses some eight-year governors. Yet he lost re-election when laid-off workers opted for a return to civil service. This comparison shows that development depends not only on revenue size but also on the integrity and sustainability of funding sources. Relying heavily on unfamiliar offshore income can undermine progress.
