Gurugram Police Arrest Three Nigerians in Online Romance Scam
Gurugram police have detained three Nigerian nationals accused of running a sophisticated social media fraud. They posed as women on platforms like Instagram to befriend targets and extort money under false pretenses. During a raid in Noida, officers recovered 19 mobile phones, one laptop, and 18 Indian and international SIM cards. The investigation began after a victim transferred ₹69,900 for a bogus airport registration fee to meet an alleged female acquaintance. Further inquiry revealed that one suspect entered India illegally via Bangladesh while the others held study visas. They now face charges under both the Passport Act and the Foreigners Act and are in police remand pending further court proceedings.
